Shoes with GPS by dominic wilcox

upon commission by global footprint - a northamptonshire-based visual arts and living heritage programme - british designer dominic wilcox has developed a bespoke pair of GPS prototype shoes which help guide you home. a piece of software has been created in which the wearer plots their desired destination on a map - this location is uploaded via USB to the shoe. through the use of two microcontrollers called arduinos, a simple click of the heels, where the GPS is embedded, activates the system, with a red tag containing the unit’s antenna positioned upwards. powered by battery, similar to that of mobile phones, data from the left shoe communicates wirelessly with the right one which shows progress via a bar of LED lights on the footwear’s toe cap. a green LED is illuminated once one has arrived at their final destination. the left shoe indicates the correct direction in which to walk by way of LEDs placed in a circle.

A new app called Moves could be the simplest fitness app ever.

It lives in your iPhone and tracks your activity in the background, so there’s no separate device to learn how to use or remember to carry (you already have your phone on you at all times).
There’s no setup: You install it, turn it on, and that’s it.
And there’s no management, syncing, or any other “interactive” bullshit to forget to do or get bored of and stop doing altogether. You don’t even have to launch it—Moves will simply ding a little summary of your physical activity into your Notifications Center every day, where you’ll end up seeing it regardless of what you’re doing with your phone.
Essentially, Moves gives you no more excuses.

Is America Ready for a Female President—or Just President Hillary?

Pollsters Jeffrey Liszt and Lisa Grove shared that in a recent survey of voters in battleground states, a whopping 72% “believe that it is likely that our next president will be a woman.” This information, of course, makes sense only in a political landscape featuring Hillary. It may be that nearly three-quarters of voters are ready (perhaps even eager) to elevate a generic woman to the Big Chair. But, absent Hillary, no way 72% of any group would consider such an outcome likely in the very next election.

Agree with that, tumblr?
